New Tinnie

Steve’s mate wanted to give his new tinny a run, so they headed down to Bellambi for a shot at some snapper, Conditions weren’t ideal but wasn’t too rough so we headed out.
1st drop we caught mainly Sweep and Sergeant Baker and not much else so we moved along, 2nd drop much the same, later on we caught a few Southern Wrasse also known as the Maori Parrotfish. Followed it up with 5 Snapper (3 keepers) and 1 Blue Morwong (catch of the day).
All up we kept 3 Snapper, 1 Morwong, 3 Southern Wrasse, 6 Sweep, and threw back heaps of Wrasse, Slimy’s, Sweep and Sergeant Bakers. A good day out. Upon returning to boat ramp an undercover fisheries officer was checking everyone’s catch, although we were OK, some others were fined. I kept half a dozen sweep, filleted them and made a green curry to my surprise it was delicious! I am going to attempt to smoke a couple of the Southern Wrasse, as I read somewhere they’re OK when smoked so will give it a go! Remainder of catch will BBQ asap.
